I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to email a writer with a link to wikipedia. Not even intensive research, just enough to make the premise slightly less preposterous!

That said, there are some areas of canon where I'm willing to let breaks with reality slide, because to do otherwise would be to evict the show entirely.
