I'd wondered if I was unusual, because when I write I'm *constantly* fact-checking. And if I don't have access to online resources (http://community.livejournal.com/atlantisbasics/2555.html), I put a note in brackets to remind me to double check. Even if I'm writing an AU, I'd like to get the details right, to better emphasize the changes and their effects.
