YES!!! that's exactly my approach! Nonromantic to a fault in RL and all over the true love soulmate through time and incarnations and in all possible universes and alternate realities :-)
which is why i started reading the story like that and then realized that it wasn't...and maybe that's what some people picked up as gen and you described as "realist"?
