argh...i seemto not express myself well today...i too actually at times like stories that move the relationship beyon the bedroom (figuratively, b/c many do it literally :-) and ultimately i really don't care if it's gen with slashy overtones, slash or something else altogether. While my interests in generic categories is great, it's more theoretical than for my own purposes!
They loved and (I'm certain) were a couple, but I see how Zoe and Rache could read it as otherwise...even if I don't. I think we all bring a lot to every story and our notion of what constitutes romance certainly is one of them...
And in terms of the one half od the OTP moving on with life...I usually don't like that too much, b/c it hurts my OTP sensibilities, but here it worked for some reason and didn't make me all upset (and I'm bemused by people proclaiming the story didn't work for them *because* they didn't tear up and go all sad...it worked for me for those very same reason, and I certainly don't think it ever worked to manipulate us to feel that way...). It was more realistic and less slash tropey and I liked it for that (while at the same time reveling in the tropes if that makes any sense).
my brain stopped working a few hours ago...i think i'll give up...for now :D
